For the past five years, Nizhny Novgorod has consistently attracted skateboarding and roller sports enthusiasts from around the world.

In 2019, it hosted the first continental championship under the auspices of World Skate international federation, and in 2021, the Grand Skate Tour festival for skateboarding and roller sports was launched, gaining international recognition.

Since the first Grand Skate Tour festival in 2021, much has changed: Nizhny Novgorod celebrated its 800th anniversary and underwent major renovations, while Grand Skate Tour has earned a reputation as one of the world's most socially oriented projects, with events held at VDNKH and Gorky Park in Moscow.
